Interior
The design of Kreta Ayer seeks to express the nature of olden day Singapore and its rich food heritage, particularly that of the Kreta Ayer street in the Chinatown district.
Elements of the Chinese Baroque style mixed with bright pastel colours and patterns reflect upon the multicultural influences on the food, reinforcing the restaurant’s brand identity as a hawker- style street eatery. The interior seeks to bring diners an experience of eating outdoors, under a canopy of hanging lights where food is celebrated as the focal point of community.
Colourful pastels were used on the window shutters and festoon string lights were used to create a light- hearted atmosphere suitable for family diners.
